The man who drove a Chevrolet SUV into a Long Beach building shortly after midnight was taken to a hospital — along with his passenger — and the motorist was charged with vehicle assault and driving while ability impaired, police said on Saturday.
The condition of the driver and his female passenger after the crash on West Park Avenue in the beachside community was not released; nor were other details.
Photographs of the West Park Avenue collision in the beachside community showed the front end of the car facing out of the building, with part of a tree on top of it. The tree appeared to have been snapped in half. A parking sign lay on the sidewalk next to the building.
