Mother, son seriously injured after car catches fire in crash, police say

A woman and her 15-year-old son were hospitalized Monday night with serious injuries after a van collided with their pickup truck, which caught fire, in Carle Place, police said.
A Dodge Caravan heading west on Asbury Avenue collided with the southbound Dodge Ram at Cherry Lane at 9:37 p.m., Nassau County police said Tuesday morning.
The Carle Place Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
The Ram’s driver, a 44-year-old woman, and her son were taken to separate hospitals for their injuries, police said. The man driving the Caravan was also transported to a hospital for cuts and a leg injury.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
