Cars collide in N. Bellmore; illegal U-turn blamed
A driver was sent to the hospital early Sunday after his car collided with another car while apparently making an illegal U-turn in North Bellmore, Nassau County police said.
Police said a 24-year-old man driving a 1994 Buick made what a witness reported to be an illegal U-turn after exiting the westbound Southern State Parkway onto northbound Newbridge Road at 2:15 a.m.
When he made the turn, he hit a 1995 Oldsmobile driven by a 28-year-old man, police said.
The Buick driver was taken to a hospital and admitted in stable condition, while the Oldsmobile driver refused medical attention at the scene for pain in his knees, police said.
Both vehicles were towed away, and police said they don't suspect any criminality.
