Catherina Scalia, hot dog truck prostitute, arrested again

An East Rockaway woman convicted last year of offering prostitute services with the franks served from her hot dog truck in Baldwin, was arrested again Friday on similar charges, Nassau police said.

Catherina Scalia, 47, of 12 Maxwell St., was charged with unauthorized practice, a felony, and with prostitution, a misdemeanor.

Scalia drove her hot dog vending truck to a hotel in East Garden City on Friday evening, police said, and while there, performed unlicensed massage on an undercover detective. She also offered to perform a sexual act for money, police said.

She was to be arraigned on the charges Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Scalia was sentenced to seven days in jail after she pleaded guilty in June following a prostitution arrest, but later said, "I really didn't do anything wrong. If male strippers can do it, then so can the females."
