Charges against Merrick gun shop owner dismissed

Charges have been dismissed against a Merrick gun shop owner who had been arrested in 2011 as part of an effort to crack down on the sales of illegal assault weapons.

All charges against Michael Marinello, who lives in East Meadow, were dropped in April 2012. Marinello, a retired NYPD officer and the owner of South Shore Sportsman in Merrick, was one of nine people who had been arrested in February 2011.
