A Hicksville man found passed out at the scene of a two-car accident Monday on the Southern State Parkway in Franklin Square faces a charge of driving under the influence of drugs, State Police said.

Troopers dispatched to the eastbound lanes of the parkway near Franklin Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. found the driver of a maroon Jeep passed out in the driver's seat, according to a news release.

Troopers woke the driver, Christopher Kishanuk, 26, but noticed he had bloodshot eyes, was unsteady on his feet and was sweating, the release said. Police said Kishanuk had to lean on his vehicle for support.

Kishanuk told troopers he had taken Xanax, which is prescribed to him, and also said he had a "history of drug abuse," police said in the release.

Kishanuk failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.

He is charged with DWI drugs and several traffic violations, police said.

He is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on July 1.
