A North Bellmore burglary was an inside job, police said.

Nassau County police said Kayla Carbone, who was employed as a baby-sitter for the victims, had "become aware that the victim and her family were going away, leaving the residence unoccupied."

The baby-sitter told her friend, police said, who committed the burglary.

Nassau County police said the crime was solved -- and the pair of teens arrested -- after the so-called Pawn Tracking System helped trace who pawned jewelry stolen in the burglary, committed between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2 at a home in North Bellmore.

Christopher Burke, 19, of Whittier Avenue, North Merrick, and Carbone, 18, of Gina Court, North Bellmore, were arrested Tuesday.

Burke is charged with second-degree burglary. Carbone is charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and tampering with physical evidence. Both are scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said Carbone, employed as a baby-sitter for the victims, had "become aware that the victim and her family were going away, leaving the residence unoccupied."

Burke then entered the home through an unlocked basement window and stole assorted jewelry, police said.

Police said detectives used pawn records to determined who was paid for pawning a portion of the stolen jewels -- and crack the case.
