The Coast Guard airlifted a 44-year-old crew member on a tanker in the waters off Long Beach to Kennedy Airport on Friday night and he was taken to a Queens hospital, officials said.

The man aboard the Greek-flagged tanker Minerva Grace was suffering abdominal pains, the Coast Guard said in a news release. He was not identified.

The guard's Atlantic City air station was notified at 10:30 p.m. and dispatched a helicopter to the 600-foot tanker, which carries oil and chemical products.

After arrival at Kennedy Airport, the crew member was taken by ambulance to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, the release said. The hospital did not immediately respond to a request for information on his condition.

The tanker was on its way from St. John's, New Brunswick, Canada, to New York City, according to a ship tracking website. It was last in St. John's on July 22, the website said.
