The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Monday night into early Tuesday for the back bays of the South Shore and the coast of western Long Island Sound.

"Astronomically high tides and deepening low pressure over the Atlantic [Ocean] will result in minor flooding," forecasters said in the advisory, which is in effect from 7 p.m. Monday until 2 a.m. Tuesday.

"Onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore," the advisory says.

As for the weather, forecasters say there is a slight chance of snow showers and rain showers before midnight. There's a slight chance of snow showers overnight.
