Construction worker hurt at Tobay Beach
A construction worker was injured Thursday morning when he was hit in the head by a piece of plywood while working on a concession stand at Tobay Beach, police and town officials said.
Medics responding to the scene reported the man was conscious, though Nassau County police said it was believed the man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a head wound.
Another worker was passing the piece of plywood from the roof to the ground when the plywood slipped, ricocheted off scaffolding and hit the injured worker in the head, said Phyllis Barry, spokeswoman for Oyster Bay Town.
Repairs on the concession stand are being done by a contractor, Barry said.
The worker's condition was not immediately available, officials said.
