The two male victims were shot shortly before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Linden Avenue and Linden Place by an unknown suspect, according to detectives.

One victim was pronounced dead shortly after 7 a.m. at a nearby hospital. The second victim is being treated at the hospital for undisclosed injuries. Neither man has been identified.

Linden Avenue has been a site of frequent gun violence in recent years.

Melvin Wells, 39, was shot and killed while fleeing a robbery on the street in November 2010. In January 2008, Abkeen Cochran, 23, was shot three times in the torso and later died of his injuries on Linden Avenue.

And, in January 2010, Jose Rodriguez, 25, was shot and killed while walking near the corner of Linden Avenue and Linden Place, the site of Saturday's violence.

Anyone with information about Saturday's shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
