The cops saw the ad on Craigslist advertising "420" -- or marijuana -- for sale. So, they called.

Not only were the Nassau County police Narcotics / Vice Squad detectives able to purchase an ounce of marijuana from an Elmont man and woman Monday night in Garden City, police say, they also arrested them.

Kevin Desir, 21, and Cynthia Castillo, 19, both of 132 Louis Ave., were arrested on charges of third-degree criminal sale of marijuana, and both pleaded not guilty Tuesday at their arraignments in First District Court in Hempstead.

Judge Eric Bjornbey ordered Desir held on $15,000 bond, or $750 cash bail. He ordered Castillo released on her own recognizance. Both are to return to court Thursday.

Desir and Castillo are represented by Legal Aid, which typically does not comment on behalf of defendants.

Police said the arrests took place after detectives responded to the ad and the pair agreed to meet them at a location in Garden City. Police said the detectives arrived to find the two waiting in their vehicle and then they purchased an ounce of marijuana, which was held in a clear plastic container.

The bust took place at 10:05 p.m., police said.
