Cops: 2 arrested; stolen mail found in car
Two Farmingville women arrested in an early Tuesday traffic stop were found with electronics stolen from cars and about 100 pieces of stolen mail, including checks, Suffolk police said.
Police believe Nancy Rodriguez, 26, and her passenger Gina Puma, 26, are responsible for several recent break-ins of cars and home mailboxes in the Ronkonkoma area. At about 3 a.m., officers stopped them at Terry Road near Express Drive South in Islandia because their car matched the description of a vehicle used at a Hanson Place car burglary, police said.
A GPS device, car chargers, cellphones and stolen mail, were confiscated from the two, police said.
Rodriguez and Puma are expected to be arraigned Wednesday on 11 counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. They were being held until the arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip.
The investigation is continuing. The vehicle was impounded as evidence, and the U.S. Postal Service was notified.
