Cops: 2 asked taxi to wait during holdup
Police on Long Island say two men called a taxi and had the driver wait while they tried to rob a store.
Nassau County police say the robbery attempt happened Friday. They say 24-year-old Jerry Mollette and 20-year-old Terrell Li hired a taxi to take them to a store in Elmont.
According to police, the pair got out, asked the driver to wait and then pulled masks over their faces.
Police say the two men tried to enter the store but it was locked and they couldn't get in.
They got back in the taxi and were arrested a short while later. Police say a stolen handgun was found in back seat.
Mollette and Li were arraigned Saturday on charges including attempted robbery. No information on attorneys was available.
