Police said they are searching for the driver of a box truck that struck two bicyclists Wednesday morning in Bethpage then fled the scene.
The accident occurred at 6:05 a.m. and has closed Hicksville Road at Brenner Avenue, Nassau County police said.
The bicyclists have both been transported to an area hospital, police said. Police said their conditions -- and, the extent of their injuries -- were not immediately known.
Police said initial reports are that the two cyclists were struck by a box truck. Police could not immediately provide a description of that truck, but said it left the scene -- and said the crash is being considered a hit-and-run. It was not immediately clear how long Hicksville Road will remain closed.
