Two men were arraigned Monday on charges they robbed a Long Beach bank, Long Beach police said.

George Armstrong, 20, and David Traversa, 19, are being held in Nassau County jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, cash or bond, police said, after being arrested Saturday.

The two were arraigned in Long Beach City Court on second-degree robbery charges and are next scheduled to appear in court on June 18.

Police arrested Traversa on Saturday in Baldwin, at the intersection of Milburn Avenue and Merrick Road, and later arrested Armstrong at the Capri Hotel in Lynbrook, according to a news release.

Both men are homeless, a police spokesman said.

Armstrong is suspected of entering the TD Bank at 550 Long Beach Blvd. shortly after noon on Friday and handing a teller a note demanding cash, police said. The teller handed over an unspecified amount of cash and the suspect left the bank, running east on East Fulton Street, police said.

Traversa acted as a lookout in the robbery, police said.
