Cops: 2 charged in Roosevelt home invasion
First Squad detectives have arrested two Hempstead men on armed robbery charges in a Roosevelt home invasion and are looking for a third suspect, Nassau County police said Wednesday.
Damien Smith, 21, of 4 Saratoga Circle, and Cal Johnson, 29, of 210 Wellington St., both armed with handguns, forced a man back into a house on East Pennywood Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
Along with another armed gunman, the two knocked the first victim to the floor, taking cash, an iPhone and keys, police said.
Smith pointed a silver handgun at the head of another man inside the house, demanding money, as Johnson took cash from the man's pockets, police said.
The third gunman went upstairs and confronted another resident of the house, a 22-year-old woman, police said.
A fourth person inside the home, a 25-year-old woman, saw the three men leave the home and drive off in a Nissan, police said.
A police spokesman said Smith and Johnson were arrested a short time later, near Hampton Road and Ditmas Avenue, based on a description of the car.
Police said none of the victims reported injuries.
Smith and Johnson are each charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon. Johnson also is charged with possession of a controlled substance, and Smith is charged with false personation for initially giving police a different name.
Each is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Anyone with information on the incident can call Crime Stoppers, 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
