Cops: 2 flee on LIRR after Valley Stream robbery
Two men robbed a victim of $580 and an iPhone in Valley Stream before escaping on a Long Island Rail Road train, Nassau police said Monday.
Police said the three met in the parking lot of a Walmart at 77 Green Acres Rd., where the 23-year-old victim was selling home projectors and the suspects were selling candy.
After the two agreed to buy a home projector, the victim drove them to the Valley Stream LIRR station. Instead of completing the transaction, they robbed him and fled on a westbound train at about 2:25 p.m., police said.
No injuries were reported.
The victim described one man as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, 25 to 35 years old with a muscular build and bushy eyebrows. He was wearing a blue shirt, khaki shorts and carrying a gray backpack.
The other was 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, in early 20s, with dreadlocks and wearing a white shirt.
Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
