Cops: 2 in custody following Merrick chase

Two people are in custody in connection with a Saturday morning robbery attempt of a Radio Shack on Sunrise Highway in Merrick, Nassau County police said.
During the police pursuit of the robbery suspects, a vehicle struck a utility pole, police said. The pole and wires fell onto the roadway causing the closure of Merrick Road until about 9 p.m. in both directions between Central Boulevard and Babylon Turnpike
