A man was robbed at gunpoint in New Cassel on Friday night, thrown to the ground and struck in the head with a gun, Nassau police said.

According to police, at 11:40 p.m., two males approached the victim, a 30-year-old man, while he was walking on Wright Street. Then, they threw him to the ground and struck his head with a black gun. The suspects took the victim's cellphone before fleeing on foot, headed south on Wright Street.

The victim suffered a large laceration on his head, and a Nassau police ambulance sent him to an hospital for treatment.
