An altercation Wednesday evening inside a deli in Roosevelt led to gunfire in the street outside the store and the arrest of three people, two of them 16-year-olds, police said.

Another alleged assailant is being sought.

Nassau County police said the incident occurred at the Midway Deli on Nassau Road at about 7:15 p.m. It was then, police said, that an altercation between two 16-year-olds inside the deli led to gunfire outside the deli, where police said a suspect not yet arrested fired "several shots" in the direction of one of the two teens.

Arrested were Christopher Anderson, 16, of 62 E. Greenwich Ave., Roosevelt, Timothy Gaines, 16, of 23 Mirin Ave., Roosevelt, and Floyd Wilson, 26, of 32 Dorlon St., Hempstead. Anderson was charged with second-degree menacing, and at arraignment Thursday, bail was set at $2,500 bail or $1,000 cash. Gaines was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana; his arraignment information was not available Thursday.

Wilson had two open warrants for criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police. He was released on his own recognizance after arraignment Thursday.

Police said that inside the deli Anderson displayed a handgun during the altercation with Gaines -- and then chased Gaines outside into the street.

It was there, police said, that an unidentified suspect fired "several shots" toward Anderson, none striking him.

Police said Gaines then fled in a waiting car that police later located with Gaines and Wilson inside. Police said Gaines was in possession of a plastic bag believed to contain marijuana and that Wilson was a passenger in the vehicle.
