Three people were arrested Tuesday for using at least $5,000 in counterfeit $100 bills to buy "low ticket price" items in various stores, Nassau police said.

They were caught about 3:30 a.m. in Bethpage after allegedly using counterfeit money at a nearby gas station, which contacted police.

The three went to various stores in Nassau, police said, but after the gas station notified police, a detective saw the car and asked a patrol officer for assistance in stopping it.

The three people arrested are Chantel Campbell, 19, of Brooklyn; Karlmax Louis, 28, of Elmont; and Suni Seaman, 22, of Valley Stream, police said. They are expected to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead on charges of third-degree grand larceny, first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and first-degree scheme to defraud.
