Three people were arrested on Saturday night after Nassau County police said they drove up to a pedestrian in East Hills and robbed him.

Kristopher Novinski, 23, and Baran Aydin, 23, both of Roslyn Heights, and Samara Oliveira, 20, of Carle Place, were driving in a silver BMW on Milburn Lane about 11:20 p.m. when they approached a 21-year-old man walking on the street, police said.

Novinski, who was in the passenger seat, showed the victim a knife and demanded money from him. After the victim gave the money up, the victim reached into the vehicle in an attempt to get the money back, police said.

Oliveira then began hitting the victim in the face, and the three drove away.

The victim's face was bruised, but he refused medical attention, police said.

After a description of the suspects and vehicle was broadcast, police found the three and the BMW on Cherry Lane in Carle Place. The knife and money were not found.

Novinski, Aydin and Oliveira were arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. Novinski, who police said had pills of what appeared to be oxycodone, also was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The three were scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
