Nassau police said they arrested three men who they said were burglarizing a North Massapequa gas station early Sunday morning.

David Bassett, 39, of Copiague, Vincent Rago, 44, of West Babylon, and Christopher Aiello, 40, of North Babylon, were charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Police said Bassett used a crowbar to break a garage window at the Sunoco station at 727 Broadway about 12:35 a.m., then went inside and took cash from the register.

Rago and Aiello sat as lookouts in a waiting silver pickup truck around the corner from the station, police said.

A witness who saw Bassett running from the station with the crowbar called police, and the three were arrested after police stopped them as they traveled east on Jerusalem Avenue, Nassau police said.

The three men were arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
