Cops: 3 teens charged in Hempstead robbery

Three teens were arrested Wednesday night after they robbed a 21-year-old man at gunpoint on the Hempstead block where one of them lives, Nassau County police said.

Two of the teens later admitted to committing a different robberyin November -- on the Garden City street where another of them lives, police said Thursday.

Rashon Williams, 17, of 9 Meadow St., Garden City, Shaquan Greenhill, 19, of 19 Stowe Place, Hempstead, and Tavon Greenhill, 18, of 23 Sammis Place, Hempstead, were arrested at 9:23 p.m. Wednesday after police said they robbed the 21-year-old as he headed into an apartment building on Stowe Place to visit a friend.

Police said Williams displayed a .380-caliber Ruger pistol and demanded money.

Shaquan Greenhill then "forcibly removed" the victim's coat and sneakers while Tavon Greenhill then took a cellphone, wallet, cash and a ring from the victim, police said.

The Greenhills are cousins, police said.

The victim, who was assaulted during the robbery, managed to flee. The trio then ran away, too, police said.

After their arrests, police said, Shaquan Greenhill and Williams admitted to a robbery on Nov. 21 on Meadow Street.

Williams and Shaquan Greenhill were each charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. Tavon Greenhill was charged with first- and second-degree robbery, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon. They were held pending bail at Nassau County jail Thursday night after being arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead. Bail was set for Williams and Shaquan Greenhill at $200,000 cash each or $400,000 bond each. For Tavon Greenhill, it was $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond.

Police said the victim was taken to a hospital where he was treated for injuries and released.
