A third man who police said was involved in a January home invasion that ended with one suspect taking his own life has been arrested.

Varinder Singh, 23, of 602 Wyngate Dr. E. in North Valley Stream, was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree robbery, Nassau County police said. He is accused of being one of three men who held two adults and four children against their will during a home invasion on Dana Avenue in North Valley Stream on Jan. 16, police said.

The incident unraveled when one police officer managed to lead the hostages to safety after which, during an exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects fatally shot himself, police said.

Police identified the dead man as Timothy Capers, 37, of 139-29 Glassboro Ave. in Jamaica, Queens. A second suspect, Levy Robinson, 47, of 109-89 142nd St. in Jamaica, was arrested at the scene, charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree burglary and four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead and remanded to Nassau County Correctional Center with no bail or bond. His next court date is Thursday.

Police did not say what led them to Singh.
