Four teens, including a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, were arrested Sunday after police said they used a bat in the robbery of a 24-year-old woman on a street in Freeport.

The victim had her face scratched in the incident, which took place at 4:10 a.m. on Smith Street, police said.

Nassau County police said the foursome confronted the woman and one of the teens, Angie Flores, 16, of Frederick Avenue, Roosevelt, then pulled "a dark colored bat" from her pants and asked the victim what she was carrying. Police said Flores then struck the woman in the face with an open hand, scratching her face and causing her to drop a pocketbook.

One of the other teens then picked up the bag, rifled it, and removed cash, a cell phone and identification information.

The foursome then fled.

Freeport police later found the four and arrested Flores; Ariel Perez, 15, of Prospect Avenue, Roosevelt; David Juliao, 17, of Dawes Avenue, Roosevelt; and Harry Esquea, 19, of Smith Street in Freeport.

All four were charged as adults, Nassau police said.

The charges are first-degree and second-degree robbery and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, police said.

All four will be arraigned Monday in First District Court in Hempstead, police said.
