Six young children and one adult were taken to hospitals after a two-vehicle collision in Hempstead Thursday evening, police said. None of the injuries were serious, Hempstead police said.

Kettely Garcon, 28, of Sunrise, Fla., who was driving one of the vehicles, was issued summonses for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and not properly securing five of the six children in car seats, Hempstead police said.

Garcon is not the parent of any of the six children, who ranged from 2 to 4 years old, Hempstead Sgt. Kevin Colgan said. Information concerning their destination was not available.

Garcon was driving a 2007 Mercedes SUV west on Windsor Parkway at 6:30 p.m., Colgan said, when it collided with a southbound Acura at the intersection of Long Beach Road.

No one in the Acura was injured, he said.
