Cops: Accountant stole $11G from company

An accountant for a Massapequa company was arrested Wednesday and charged with stealing more than $11,000 in company funds, Nassau police said.
Stephen Sherman, 69, of 3 Cleveland St., Nesconset, was charged with three counts of third-degree grand larceny and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Over the course of several months, police said, Sherman made checks payable to himself that were intended for payment of the federal taxes of his employer, Vista Verde Landscape and Masonry.
Sherman is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in First District Court, Hempstead.
