A man robbed a New Cassel gas station at gunpoint early Saturday morning, fleeing with cash, police said.

The armed man entered the Citgo Gas Station, at 495 Union Ave., at 1:24 a.m., according to Nassau County police. He pointed a black semiautomatic handgun at the station's clerk and demanded cash, police said.

The clerk, a 56-year-old man, gave the robber an undetermined amount of cash, police said. The robber, who was fully dressed in black and wore blue latex gloves, then fled on foot, police said.

There were no injuries, police said.
