Nassau County police arrested an adult and teen Saturday after officers said they attempted to steal another man's cellphone in North Woodmere.

Police said the 18-year-old victim had planned to meet Jonathan M. Cedillos, 16, in North Woodmere Park to exchange a SIM card for a cellphone. When the two met at Glenridge Avenue at about 7:45 p.m., Osvaldo R. Bonilla, 19, of Far Rockaway, approached and demanded the cellphone, according to police.

As the victim ran, Cedillos pulled the victim to the ground, injuring the victim's knee, police said. Bonilla then began punching the victim in the face, but the two left without getting the cellphone, police said.

Police arrested Cedillos, of Inwood, and Bonilla after they found them nearby. They were each charged with two counts of attempted robbery and were scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.

The victim, who police did not identify, was treated for his injuries at the scene.
