A Brooklyn man will be arraigned Monday on an attempted murder charge after he pulled out a handgun Sunday outside a Valley Stream building and fired a barrage of shots at a man with whom he had exchanged words, hitting that man multiple times, police said.

The victim, "who sustained eight bullet holes to his body, six to his legs and two to his shoulders," was in stable condition with nonlife-threatening injuries, Nassau police said in a Monday morning news release.

The incident occurred at 12:55 p.m. Sunday in front of a building on Lois Place, police said.

Richard Davidson, 36, of 2810 Albermarle Rd., Apt. 1, "exchanged words" with a 43-year-old man and "then fired shots at the victim. The defendant continued shooting at the victim as he fled inside the building" before fleeing the scene, police said.

A Nassau County police helicopter transported the victim to a local hospital.

Fifth Precinct police officers arrested Davidson about four hours later in Brooklyn.

He was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Davidson is to be arraigned Monday in First District Court, Hempstead.
