A man sought in a string of Nassau County bank robberies has been linked to the crimes by a particular detail, police said: He wears a Toronto Blue Jays baseball cap.

Nassau County police said Tuesday investigators think the same man has committed at least three area bank robberies -- one Friday in Rockville Centre and two others Monday, one of them in Merrick and the other in Garden City.

In all three cases, police said, the suspect was described as being about 5 feet, 10 inches, in his mid-50s or 60s, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a scarf, jeans and the Blue Jays cap.

Police have also released a surveillance photo, taken during the Friday robbery of a TD Bank branch on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre. That robbery took place at 2:15 p.m.

Additionally, police said the same suspect then robbed a Capital One Bank branch on Merrick Road in Merrick about 11:45 a.m. Monday.

Police said they also think the man robbed a TD Bank on Franklin Avenue in Garden City shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday. No one was injured in any of the robberies, police said.

In all three cases, police said, the man handed a teller a demand note -- and fled with cash. No weapon was seen. But police said that in at least one instance the suspect stated in his note that he was armed with a gun.

Police said anyone with information about the robberies could call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
