A Port Washington man was taken into custody Thursday night after barricading himself inside his home with a weapon for nearly an hour, police said.

The incident began at about 7:45 p.m., authorities said, when a "barricade situation" was reported to Port Washington police.

Officers surrounded the home in a Port Washington neighborhood and set up a perimeter in the area, police said. At about 8:30 p.m. the man was taken into custody and no injuries were reported, police said.

No further details were available Thursday night.
