Cops: Bayville man served teens alcohol, violated social host law
A Bayville man was charged with a violation of the social host law after he provided beer at a party for his 17-year-old son and a 16-year-old guest had to be transported to the hospital for alcohol poisoning, police said.
The incident occurred at a house party Saturday night on Woods Lane, Nassau County police said.
They said between 75 and 100 youths "appearing to be under 21" were observed exiting the residence and yard by officers responding to complaints of "a loud house party."
Those officers said they observed open containers and a 16-year-old boy who was unconscious and unresponsive but breathing. Police said the boy admitted to drinking vodka and was transported to North Shore University Hospital in Glen Cove, where he was treated for alcohol poisoning.
Police issued homeowner Jeffrey Schneider an appearance ticket for violation of the county's social host law. He is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Nov. 19, police said.
