Cops: Bellmore man died in motorcycle crash

A motorcyclist fatally injured in a collision with a car in East Meadow has been identified as Sean Goebel of Bellmore, Nassau County police said Thursday.
Goebel, 44, was northbound on Newbridge Road at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a 2004 Mazda making a left turn onto Lawn Drive, police said. He was thrown from his motorcycle and pronounced dead at a hospital at 7:40 p.m., police said.
The 18-year-old operator of the Mazda, who was taken to a hospital for observation, was not identified.
Police said it appeared no criminality was involved; both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
