Cops: Bethpage man went on shopping spree with stolen credit cards
Seventh Squad detectives have arrested a Bethpage man on larceny charges after he allegedly stole credit cards from parked cars to purchase more than $2,000 in merchandise, Nassau County police said.
Robert Caffera, 53, of 167 12th St., stole the cards in January of this year and in August of 2008, police said, and then used them to make purchases of $2,250 at several Nassau retail stores, police said.
On Jan. 16, he took two cards from a car parked at Cedar Creek Park, and on Aug. 12, 2008, he took another card from a vehicle parked at Seamans Neck Park in Seaford, police said.
Caffera was arrested Saturday at his residence, police said, and he is charged with grand larceny, forgery, identity theft and possession of stolen property and was arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
