Cops: Blood left at scene helps nab burglar

An Amityville man was arrested Wednesday after investigators matched his blood to the scene of an August burglary in Massapequa, Nassau County police said.

Christopher Rose, 27, of 28 Ira Court, was charged with second-degree burglary after he surrendered to detectives at the Seventh Precinct in Seaford at about 11:30 a.m., police said in a Thursday news release.

He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Hempstead.

The burglary took place at a home on Emily Street in Massapequa on Aug. 15, and it was reported in a 911 call indicating a suspicious person in the area, police said.

Responding officers found a home, under renovation, had been broken into -- and found a stove, refrigerator and two bathroom vanities in the back yard. Police said they believe Rose placed the items in the yard in order to remove them from the property in one shot.

Police said that, during the subsequent investigation, blood evidence was recovered from the scene and said it was eventually matched to Rose.

Rose pleaded guilty in May to aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and was fined $350, online court records show.
