Police ID man’s body found floating in Glen Cove Creek
The body of a man was found floating in Glen Cove Creek Monday has been identified, Nassau police said Wednesday.
The decomposing body of Jose Demas Morales, 61, had been spotted by a tugboat operator about 7:35 p.m., authorities said.
Nassau police did not release other details, including where Morales lived. There was no information on whether he was the man reported missing last week from Glen Cove.
Homicide detectives continue to investigate and the medical examiner’s office is expected to determine the cause of death.
Glen Cove Harbor Patrol and Nassau marine officers had retrieved the body.
Glen Cove Det. Lt. John Nagle had said DNA would be used to see if the remains matched those of the missing man. He could not be immediately reached Wednesday night.
