Police have identified the body of an 83-year-old man found in the water off Inwood early Wednesday.

William Braxton, of Jamaica, Queens, had been missing since Saturday, the NYPD said, when he was last seen leaving his home on 173rd Street about noon.

A Silver Alert and a photo were released Saturday evening by city officials. Nassau County police responded to a 911 call reporting "a possible body in the water" off Inwood on Wednesday morning about 9:20 a.m. The location was believed to be somewhere off Doughty Boulevard.

The NYPD said no criminality was suspected, but that the medical examiner's office will determine the cause of Braxton's death.
