Cops: Building super tried to sell PCP
The superintendent of a building in Freeport was arrested at 9:30 p.m. Monday, charged with attempting to sell PCP in its parking lot, police said.
Nassau County police said Kevin Tavera, 26, of 287 Merrick Rd., Freeport, was charged with fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and with tampering with evidence. He faces arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
PCP, or phencyclidine, is a hallucinogenic drug sometimes known as angel dust. Police said that, at the time of his arrest, Tavera attempted to dispose of the drug -- leading to the charge of tampering with evidence.
