A Hewlett man was arrested Tuesday morning in a house he had broken into on his block by climbing a ladder and breaking in through a second-floor window, police said.

Victor Picone, 24, of 43 Avalon Rd., will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead on charges of second-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools, Nassau County police said in a news release.

Picone was "observed" breaking into the residence by climbing the ladder and prying open the window with a screwdriver, police said.

Fourth Precinct police officers who responded "located Picone inside the residence," where he had taken an unknown amount of cash, police said. He was arrested at 9:40 a.m.
