Police are searching for a burglar who fled a home in New Hyde Park after waking a woman in her bedroom.

The burglary occurred at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Nassau County police said. The resident, identified only as a 50-year-old woman, was not injured.

Police said the burglar escaped without any proceeds.

A living room window in the rear of the home was later found to have been pried open, police said. It was not immediately clear if police recovered any forensic evidence.

Police ask anyone with information about the burglary to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
