Cops bust 11 in Roosevelt on drug charges

Eleven people were arrested Thursday at two Roosevelt homes, capping a two-month drug investigation stemming from neighborhood complaints of criminal activity there, Nassau County police said.

People in the homes, on Pleasant and Ellison avenues, sold crack and heroin, police said.

Charges are expected to include several felonies, including criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. The 11 suspects are expected to be arraigned on those charges on Friday.

Police did not release information about the quantities sold or how much the drugs cost or a list of the suspects' names, saying they're still being questioned.

The department said the case originated on orders of the police commissioner, Thomas Dale, to "improve the quality of life for the Roosevelt community."
