A Freeport man faces a charge of operating a boat while under the influence of alcohol, Nassau County's Marine Bureau said Thursday.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Marine Bureau responded to a call about an intoxicated boater near the West End Boat Basin at Jones Beach at about 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Marine Bureau officers arrested William Riedman, 34, of 241 Sportsmans Ave., and his boat was towed to the Jones Beach Coast Guard Station and later released to the owner, police said.

Riedman is charged with operation of a vessel while under the influence of alcohol and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
