Cops: Car briefly stolen in Roosevelt
Nassau County Police are investigating a car theft and robbery early Saturday morning in Roosevelt.
A 29-year-old man had left his 1966 white Ford Galaxy unattended with the ignition running at midnight Friday on Underhill Road and Babylon Turnpike. While walking away from his car, he was pushed from behind and fell to the ground on his hands and knees, causing scrapes and abrasions, police said.
A suspect then removed the victim's sneakers and fled. When the victim returned to where he'd left his car it was missing, police said.
The vehicle was found a short time later in front of 120 Underhill Rd. and has been impounded for the investigation, police said.
Detectives request anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
