Cops: Cleaning lady stole $7,500 in jewelry
A cleaning lady was arrested and charged Thursday with stealing $7,500 in jewelry from her Garden City employer's home, police said.
Maria Macedo, 54, of 220 Lincoln Ave., Mineola, took the valuables between Jan. 1, 2011, and Sept. 12, 2011, police said, and sold some of the goods to a local pawnshop.
Macedo was charged with third degree grand larceny.
She was to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court, Hempstead.
