A large pig was hoofing the streets of Oceanside Monday morning, getting the right of way before police officers corralled it, authorities said.

Callers reported the creature just after 7:30 a.m. on Royal Avenue and Riverside Drive and also a quarter mile away, by Riverside Drive and Yale Street, Nassau police said.

Officers were able to round up the pig within 20 minutes and returned the animal to its owner, who lives nearby, police said.

There was no immediate word on how the pig got out and who its owner is.
