Cops: Dad, daughter handcuffed in home invasion
A man and his daughter were threatened with handguns and left handcuffed to a basement oil tank but were otherwise uninjured in a home invasion robbery Thursday afternoon in Valley Stream, police said.
Nassau County police said they are searching for two men who they said "pushed their way" into the house on Cumberland Place after the 53-year-old homeowner answered the front door just before 1 p.m.
Once inside, police said one suspect -- described as being 5-foot-11, 230 pounds, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun -- ordered the man and his 21-year-old daughter face down on the floor in the den.
Meanwhile, police said the second suspect, described as 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, began taking "assorted items including cash and jewelry."
The two then handcuffed the father and daughter to the oil tank and fled, police said.
