A Bethpage man faces charges of impersonating a police officer, reckless endangerment and reckless driving after allegedly forcing another vehicle into the concrete median of the Northern State Parkway Tuesday in Jericho, State Police said.

Antonio Cardilicchia, 37, of 12 Sussex Lane, told police he was cut off by another driver at about 10:14 a.m. near Exit 35, Route 106/107, according to a report.

Cardilicchia, in a Ford Explorer traveling east, chased the driver who cut him off and then forced that driver to hit the center median, police said. When both vehicles pulled to the shoulder, the report said, Cardilicchia "physically shoved the other driver toward the traffic lanes."

When a woman stopped to assist, police said, Cardilicchia threatened her and told her to leave because he was a police officer.

Troopers arrested Cardilicchia, who is not a law-enforcement officer, at the scene. In addition, he is charged with menacing, harassment and several traffic violations.

Arraignment information was not immediately available.
